The 2005 Chicago White Sox season was a historic one for the franchise as they captured their first World Series title in 88 years.

Led by manager Ozzie Guillén, the White Sox finished the regular season with an impressive 99-63 record, winning the American League Central Division title.

The team's pitching staff, known as "The Four Horsemen," consisting of Mark Buehrle, Freddy Garcia, Jon Garland, and José Contreras, played a crucial role in their success during the regular season and postseason. At the plate, the South Siders received clutch hitting throughout their 2005 campaign from Paul Konerko, Jermaine Dye, Scott Podsednik, AJ Pierzynski, Joe Crede, Juan Uribe, Aaron Rowand and Carl Everett.

In the playoffs, the White Sox showcased their dominance by sweeping the defending champions Boston Red Sox in the American League Division Series (ALDS) and then defeating the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the American League Championship Series (ALCS) in five games.

The White Sox met the Houston Astros in the World Series, and their pitching continued to shine, leading them to clinch the championship in a four-game sweep, earning the city of Chicago its first World Series title since 1917. Jermaine Dye was named the World Series MVP for his outstanding performance at the dish, hitting .438, during the championship series.
